Weekly Quiz

"All in the Family"

September 24, 2007

Welcome to The Armpit wrestling quiz for the week of September 24, 2007.  The involvement of John Cena's father in the angle with Randy Orton has been effective, and using relatives of wrestlers in angles is nothing new.  We'll examine those angles in this week's quiz, "All in the Family."

Last week's answers:

-Randy Couture defeated Tony Halme (aka Ludvig Borga in WWF) in his 1997 UFC debut.

-Paul Heyman wasn't Brock Lesnar's manager, but his "agent."

-Cena wrestled Kurt Angle in his televised WWE debut.

-Sid Vicious was the special enforcer at SummerSlam '91.

-Giant Gonzales debuted at Royal Rumble '93.

Here are this week's questions.  Remember, the new rules are that you no longer need to submit your questions, and no winners will be declared.  We're just doing this for fun and to honor the forgotten world of wrestling history.

1.  One of everyone's favorite angles in 80s era WWF was the "slap."  That slap was Jake's then wife, Cheryl Roberts, whacking one of the top heels at the time.  Cheryl was a plant in the front row, and the heel accosted her, trying to kiss her.  What famous heel was on the receiving end of this slap from Mrs. Snake?

2.  She wasn't his real mother, but she played one.  Shelton Benjamin's "mama" was a forgettable gimmick from 2005 that was something that only a TV writer could come up with.  What real-life comedian played this role?

3.  This diva's father had zero camera presence, but WWE used him anyway, even having him make out with Dawn Marie.  And then they faked his death.  What diva had to endure such embarrassment by having her father participate in this stupid storyline?

4.  One of the first times we saw Ric Flair's family was during the buildup of one of his most memorable PPV matches.  It was in Charlotte, and the camera was with Ric as he left the house, rode the limo to the arena, and celebrated in the locker room afterwards.  Young David Flair can be seen in the background, years before he would go on to date Stacy Keibler, win the WCW tag team titles, and get beaten up by the Undertaker in OVW.  Ric's opponent stiffed the Hell out of him during the match, too.  Whom did Ric wrestle that night?

5.  Mick Foley showed his human side when his life and family were chronicled in the greatest movie ever, "Beyond the Mat."  Family Man Foley had such respect among wrestling fans that this never once ruined his babyface image like it did with Ricky Steamboat 11 years earlier (Womanizer Ric Flair got all the cheers while Steamboat got boo'ed for bringing his wife and son to the ring).  The movie captured Foley's family's disgusted reaction during his match with Rock, which took place at what PPV event (name the year and event)?

Answers will be posted next week.
