Weekly Quiz

"Remembering the Rumbles - Part 3"

January 21, 2008

Welcome to the Armpit wrestling quiz for the week of January 21, 2008.  The Rumble is this Sunday, which means part 4 of our quiz (this week is part 3) won’t be done until after the Rumble is over.  With that kind of poor planning on my part, I expect to be offered a position within TNA management imminently.

Without further ado, here is "Remembering the Rumbles - Part 3."

Last week's answers:

-Bob Backlund broke Flair’s Rumble record at Rumble ’93.

-Undertaker wrestled Yokozuna at Rumble ’94.  Cornette was Yokozuna’s manager at the time, and the two of them had a hilarious appearance on “Regis and Kathy Lee” during the feud with Luger.

-Pamela Anderson Lee was a celebrity at Rumble ’95.  Pam had dated Poison frontman Bret Michaels shortly before this time, and I remember all the metal fans at the time would ask if Bret was related to Shawn Michaels.  Or maybe Bret Michaels was related to Bret Hart.  None of that is true, but how come no one ever asked if Pam Anderson was related to Ole?

-At Rumble ’96, Lawler hid under the ring to escape Jake Roberts’ snake.

-Michaels was accompanied to Rumble ’97 by Jose Lothario.

-At Rumble ’98, Michaels suffered a horrible back injury that he has still not recovered from.  But Michaels is so good that you really wouldn’t notice anyway.

Here are this week's questions. Remember, the new rules are that you no longer need to submit your questions, and no winners will be declared. We're just doing this for fun and to honor the forgotten world of wrestling history.

  1.  Royal Rumble ’99 was well documented.  So well documented that it’s part of a documentary.  What documentary heavily features behind the scenes moments from Rumble ’99?
  2. Rumble ’00 had a Miss Rumble contest.  Remember that?  No one will fault you for saying No.  Who won the contest?
  3. Perhaps the only game show host to ever wrestle in a Rumble, what celebrity made a guest appearance at Rumble ’01?
  4. Rumble ’02 featured a mighty comeback from one of the top workers of the late 80s and early 90s.  What currently deceased wrestler came back to the WWF that night?
  5. Rumble ’03 will go down as having one of the most unintentionally and indirectly historic injuries in all of sports.  In fact, repercussions of that injury were all over the news in 2007, and will be for many years to come.  What wrestler suffered a concussion that night?

Answers will be posted next week.
