'Pit's Picks
UFC 80: Rapid Fire
Before every major pay-per-view or show, The Armpit will list its picks for who we think will win, and how. We will also list the most recent betting odds listed at BetUS.com. Our track record is decent, and this year has seen lots of major upsets.
Disclaimer: These are just our personal picks, and you should not base your own picks based on our opinions. Placing bets according to our picks does not guarantee or make it likely you will win or lose your bets.
The next major event is UFC 80 from New Castle, England.
Event: UFC 80: Rapid Fire Date: Saturday, January 19, 2008 Outlet: Live on PPV Location: Metro Radio Arena in New Castle, England
Main Event BJ Penn vs. Joe Stevenson
BetUS.com odds: n/a
This fight will be for the UFC lightweight title, which was stripped from Sean Sherk after his steroid test results came back positive. Sherk will face the winner, which could likely mean Penn vs. Sherk, which was the original plan before he was stripped.
Stevenson is a top fighter, but BJ is on a different level. This PPV is seriously lacking star power, but BJ has been around awhile and is deserving of main event status.
Prediction: Penn by submission in the 2nd round.
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Fabricio Werdum
BetUS.com odds: n/a
Oh yay, Werdum is back to put the UK asleep again after his boring fight with Arlovski last year. I predict more of the same from him, and Gabe should eat him up. Man, is this card weak or what?
Prediction: Gonzaga by decision after three rounds of boredom and boo'ing.
Make sure to catch UFC 80 on Saturday, January 19 on PPV.
