Pick My Brain:
Teenagers
November 14, 2005
They're young. They're punks. They're no-good, delinquent, immature, whiny little sons of b*tches who need a good swift kick in the ass. Who are they? Teenagers. And they're so annoying.
...Or are they? We decided to find out, and what better way to get to the heart of the matter than through the scientific method of Pick My Brain?
Seriously, every wrestling promoter and booker needs to read this to see exactly where wrestling stands among America's youth. I enjoyed this interview, and I think your perception of teenagers will change after reading this. After all, we were all young once, and we were all teenagers once. It's a stage of life we've all got to live through.
We asked for a few volunteers, and here's the cast of characters we settled on: JASON, SYLVAIN, JEFF, ASH, JOHN, RYAN, MATTY, and HANDSOME TAYLOR. Let's do it.
1. We always begin our interviews with plugs. Please list them now, and please give a brief introduction of yourselves, including your age. Remember, this is a panel of several people, so brevity is appreciated.
Jason: I have nothing really to plug, but my name is Jason and I'm 18.
Sylvain: Sup, my name is Sylvain Theriault, age 19. I'm going to plug UWA Hardcore Wrestling's (check the website) Nov 25 show in Mississauga, Ont, Can. It's going to be an awesome show produced by an awesome promotion, trust me.
Jeff: I'm Jeff Knott 19 years old, born and bred in UK, currently doing a year abroad as part of my uni degree studying (in loosest possible sense of the term) in Sydney, Australia.
Ash: My name is Ash, Just Ash, I'm an 11th grader in Ontario (Canada), I was born in Iran, and my hobbies include Strong-Style wrestling, freestyle wrestling, and long walks on the beach. Plugs include TheDDT.com (where 9 out of 10 Smarks Disapprove), LiveAudioWrestling.com (Number one wrestling Radio show in Canada), ROHwrestling.com (home to Ring of Honor!!! Includes card updates, shoot interviews, DVDs from ROH, WWE, and more!!!), and WWE.com (Home to the World Wrestling Entertainment, the largest, and therefore greatest, wrestling and entertainment company in the world. All rights reserved).
John: I'm a big fan of the site, I'm 15 years old and live in L.A.
Ryan: Ryan Yoder. 19. I'll go ahead and plug Axe Body Spray, even though I have yet to be given a bath by a hot chick.
Matty: My name is Matty McKeown, I'm 18 and from Liverpool, England. I've written two guest articles on this site, the Eminem - Stan parody and one entitled 'McMahon unveils plans after network switch'. I do have a website of my own about general stuff at www.geocities.com/mattymac24, oh and also check out the BQWA e-fed at bustedquad.com which I am a member of, it's an awesome fed.
Taylor: Hello, I am the king of sting, the count of monte crisco, the master of disaster, Taylor 'The Canadian Dragon'!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I am 14 and single. I'm dedicating this interview to Eddie Guerrero. No, not Eddie the wrestler, but Eddie the person. The man who overcame addictions and depressions. The man who overcame size barriers. The friend of Benoit and Malenko. The man who had a loving family. The man who was a super nice guy to work with. I want it dedicated to Eddie Guerrero. The person.
2. What year did you first start watching wrestling, and who or what really made you become a fan of the sport?
Jason: I started watching wrestling when I was 4, and I was a Hulk Hogan mark like every other kid that age at that time. I also liked the Undertaker, and the Bushwhackers made me laugh.
Sylvain: I started watching wrestling in 1990, mainly just WWF. I first watched it because at the age of four, wrestling presented everything a kid like myself wanted in a show. Drama, excitement, heroes and villains, that kind of stuff.
Jeff: I'd kind of been watching odd events on UK TV when I could se them since about royal rumble 1995. As a 9 year old I vividly remember being pissed as hell when Bulldog went all the way and dint quite do it. Didn't really get hooked though until 2000 royal rumble. The 2 moments which undoubtedly hooked me for life was the HHH-Cactus Jack street fight and more importantly, Jeff Hardy's swanton off the balcony through 2 tables. Not much left me speechless, but that did. Of course followed by JR "By gawd, the boys broken himself in half!"
Ash: 1998. I was talking to my friend on the phone, flipping through the channels , and on came The Giant with a pair of handcuffs, which he proceeded to break. I then marked out like an eight-year old, and was hooked. That's why I'm still a mark for Big Show today. I then tuned in on and off for a few years, then turned back into the product full time around 2001.
John: I first started watching around 1999-2000. At school, all my friends would play wrestle and I had no idea what they were talking about, so I watched a couple of episodes and I got hooked.
Ryan: November 2nd, 1998. My friends were always talking about it, so I figured that I'd check it out.
Matty: I first started watching wrestling when I was around three years old with my cousins in 1990, like everyone else I liked Hogan, but it was the Ultimate Warrior that really caught my imagination. I was obsessed with the Ultimate one and as a child have vivid memories of painting my face and gorilla pressing teddy bears. I was a little too young to know too much about what I was watching so maybe that's why the cartoonish Warrior appealed to me so much. Even to this day I'm a huge Warrior fan just for the fact that he was my hero as a kid, as I got a little older and Warrior left I became a big Bret Hart and Razor Ramon fan, it was them that kept me watching through the mid-90s.
Taylor: Actually, that's a tough one to call. I remember seeing a few shows, and I would watch it whenever I could. I remember my friends telling me about Owen Hart, and we would play with old action figures and rings. My brother and I played wrestling video games and we had a ball. (We actually called Triple H, H-H-H!) Perhaps the VERY first full length show I ever saw was back in December 21, 1999. I still remember the card. Anyway, Mankind and The Rock REALLY got me in to it. I was such a fan at that point I actually cried when Mick Foley retired. I also thought sometime D-X would rob my family but the Rock and I would team up to take em on. Yes, I know, this was back when I still thought that wrestling was 'real' and before I got smart, but what the hell, I'm sure Dave Meltzer hated Blassie one time or another.
3. How vivid are your memories of the Monday night wars? If applicable, please list a few of your favorite memories from that era.
Jason: Hell yes I remember the Monday Night Wars and miss them dearly. I think Hall and Nash's first Nitro was pretty surprising, and came out of nowhere to the casual viewer. I also remember seeing DX invade Nitro on the tank, that was insane. I'd never seen anything like that before. At that time, I was convinced DX would be sued or something.
Sylvain: I have a terrible memory so off the top of my head my favorite memories are The Giant beating Flair for the WCW Title, the Cruiserweight division (in its prime), Austin/Pillman gun skit, DX invading WCW, Lance Storm's first few months in WCW, and the 24/7 Hardcore division.
Jeff: To be quite honest, I never saw any WCW until long after the wars were over. My memories consist largely of the radicalz turning up on WWE and thinking who the hell are these guys, shortly followed, by Jeeeesus they're good!
Ash: I didn't get that into the Wars, because my parents disapproved of me watching wrestling, and it being on at 8:00 didn't help either (I lived in Vancouver at that time). But what I saw I remember, like DX, nWo, Sting, and The Rock and Sock Connection.
John: I can't remember that much, sorry.
Ryan: My favorite moment was actually on the Monday Night War DVD. It was that day that Mick Foley won the WWF championship. There was great drama going on at ringside, and when I heard the glass break, the hair on my arms and legs stood up.
Matty: I remember the rating wars well, they are probably my favorite years as a wrestling fan as I was at an age when the whole 'in your face' attitude era really appealed to me. As a huge DX mark I would say that almost every segment they ever done was a favorite of mine, particularly the 'oral office' segment and the Nation Impression, and of course there is the incredible Austin/McMahon feud from '98-'99 which really swung the balance in WWF's favor if I remember rightly. They used to show Nitro at 9pm here on a Friday night which I would usually watch for an hour just to see some of the faces from my childhood, but I think I switched over to Raw at 10pm every single week without fail. I always felt a kind of loyalty to WWF since I'd watched it all my life and this kept me watching even when the NWO was kicking Vince's ass pre-Austin.
Taylor: Very, very light. I got in to wrestling just when they were finishing (1999, for those with short memory loss). I DO remember watching WCW one time, and a bunch of wrestlers came to surround the ring. Anyway, Kevin Nash came out, and (I believe) Mark Madden remarked "I think I saw this in that WWF once" It was a mark out moment for me.
4. Regarding the Monday night wars, please choose which of the following apply to you:
A. I caught the tail end of them, when WWF was kicking WCW's ass B. I caught the middle of them, when WCW was kicking WWF's ass C. I saw them right from the beginning, before the nWo D. Monday night what? E. Other (please specify)
Jason: C.
Sylvain: C. I saw them right from the beginning, before the nWo.
Jeff: (see above)
Ash: B.
John: A.
Ryan: A. I caught the tail end of them, when WWF was kicking WCW's ass
Matty: B. I'd been watching all along but even during the height of the NWO always still watched WWF most of the time, but when the NWO was at its best and I was seeing a lot of my old favorites involved in cool storylines I did get into WCW for the first time. I spent most of the wars watching the first hour of Nitro, flicking back and forth between the first hour of Raw and the second hour of Nitro, then watching Raw's last hour. However I always considered myself a WWF fan primarily.
Taylor: A-Sadly...Which sucks. DAMN I WISH I
WAS OLDER! 5. Before the late 90s wrestling boom, there were all sorts of booms in the 80s. Sadly, you guys missed that whole era. What goes through your mind when people talk about late 80s WWF and NWA? Do you just not care? Are you interested in reading or learning about it?
Jason: Since '98 I've been reading up on wrestling history and watching old matches from the eras I missed out on. I actually went through a point where I stopped watching modern wrestling almost altogether and instead watched an old tape. Mid-Atlantic was usually my favorite, but I only had like 3.
Sylvain: I am totally interested in that era. There's nothing I love more than learning about the eras and promotions of wrestling that I missed. What sucks for me is that I JUST missed the 80s era of wrestling.
Jeff: NWA? Weren't they that rap band with Dr.Dre in from ages ago?
Ash: I've seen quite a few 80s matches, thanks largely to peer-to-peer downloading, and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with them. The odd ones stood out, of course, like Flair/Steamboat, and Rick Rude. Just that style isn't what I'm into.
John: Sometimes I'm interested like with the NWA, but most of the time it's kind of boring to me.
Ryan: I love reading about the older stuff, specifically whatever Roddy Piper did. I'm a Piper mark. I loved reading Ric Flair's book, and I do have that Stars of the 80s DVD thingy.
Matty: I have built up quite a collection of 80's video tapes during my time watching wrestling, most of it in an attempt to make up for missing Ric Flair during this time period. When I think back to missing Hogan slamming Andre I wish I'd have seen it as it must have been such a massive thing, also I'd have liked to have been around for Wrestlemania I. I think the thing that made me with I was around for this period the most was seeing Flair-Steamboat for the first time and realizing that aside from Benoit vs. Angle matches that we really are missing out.
Taylor: I am VERY interested in learning about the NWA. 4 horsemen, Magnum TA, Windham, you name it. If anyone wants to tell me about the 80s NWA I shut up and listen. I already know enough about 80s WWF, thanks to the WWE.
6. Do you have any older relatives or friends who watched wrestling from before you were born or when you were babies? If so, who were their favorites and what do they think of today's wrestling scene?
Jason: My great Aunt and Uncle are nearly 70 and are the biggest wrestling fans I know. The favorite for both of them is King Harley Race, and I'm pretty sure they recently stopped watching WWE television. They haven't seen TNA yet, I guess I should record a show and show them what they're missing.
Sylvain: My dad says he used to check out the wrestling shows that came around when he was a kid on the east coast. He says his favorite wrestler was Edouard Carpentier. He also watched WWF Main Event with my brother and I, and checks out WWE occasionally now. But he's not really into wrestling all that much to have an opinion, other than he can stand it more than boxing.
Jeff: My dad used to watch British wrestling as a kid with his favorite being Giant Haystacks. He stopped watching when wrestling "went all American and glitzy". He still refuses to accept there is/ever has been any other form of American wrestling other than WWF/E.
Ash: Back in olde country, my father used to watch wrestling on TV back in the '60s, and always wondered 'Wow! What athletes!' These days, however, the sport just turns him off.
John: My Grandfather and Uncle used to watch. My Uncle used to like Bret Hart a lot, and my grandfather liked Bruno Sammartino. My uncle likes Benoit, but he doesn't really watch that often.
Ryan: Not really, but anyone I talk to that did, will tell me that their favorite was Hulk Hogan. As for today, their response is Triple-Who?
Matty: don't see the cousins who I watched wrestling with anymore, but at the time they were about five or six years older than me and so were Hogan and Warrior marks just like I was. Like me they were very much believers in the kayfabe and this made it much easier to love and hate who the WWF told you to, so I think they pretty much loved the faces and hated the heels.
Taylor: No, I'm the black sheep, sadly. My dad and I watched it one time though. He didn't like it because of the violence..swearing..women...Basically anything the PTC will tell you. The rest of my family hated it. Now these days, My family is cool with it. My dad's opinion has changed DRASTICALLY ever since he decided to read Foley is Good. I took my parents to an indy show, and for once my mom remarked "These guys are good athletes". I am truly lucky to have a family like mine, even if my boat does get rocked.
7. At what point in your lives did you remember wrestling being at its most popular?
A. High school B. Middle school C. Elementary school D. Pre-school E. What is this thing you call “school?”
Jason: C.
Sylvain: C. Elementary. I don't know what middle school is, but basically to me it was most popular around grade 6
Jeff: Umm well around ages of 14-16 whatever that is in your education system! And now again at uni when nothing beats coming back from having a skinfull and watching the 2am rerun of Raw on skysports with your mates over that last beer you'll regret in the morning!
Ash: E. No, wait, C...E-C-W?
John: C.
Ryan: A. High school
Matty: A. Definitely, I started high school in '98 and for the first three years wrestling was the talk of the playground, along with football of course. This was that golden age when it was actually cool to be a wrestling fan and I was respected for my enormous knowledge of wrestling for a short period instead of being lame because of it. It was a good age to be during this time since the likes of Stone Cold, The Rock and DX are most appealing to 11-15 year olds.
Taylor: I'm going to bypass this question, as
wrestling has different points. These days, the underground is good,
with things like ROH, CZW, IWA: MS.....I could go on forever. Shortly
when I got in to wrestling, it was the era of guys like Kurt Angle and
THE GOOD Triple H. Those days I remember well.
8. Sorry guys, but you missed A LOT. You missed Flair-Steamboat, Midnights-RnR Express, Hogan-Savage, the territories, Von Erichs-Freebirds, and so much more. How well do you know the 1980s wrestling scene? And how did you learn what you know about wrestling history? Through videotapes? Books? WWE-produced DVDs?
Jason: I'd like to think I know it well, I've tried to learn as much as I can. Obsessedwithwrestling.com is a great information site. Also I've watched some old videos, and WWE Fanatic pay-per-views.
Sylvain: I know a little about it, but I forget easily. I get my info mainly through books (like Flair's autobiography), tapes/dvds (the wwf/e ones), and websites (like this one, wink).
Jeff: Starting to get to know it reasonably well through DVDs and the internet.
Ash: I've seen two Flair-Steamboats, one Freebird match, and two Von Erich Matches (one being the Kerry/Flair match when Kerry wins the title). A couple of odd ones, too. As I've stated before, a majority through downloading, and a few tapes a couple of friends had. I've also read several books, including Flairs and Heenan's, and I have only the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD from the WWE library.
John: If you were to give me a quiz on the 80's scene during wrestling, I'd fail miserably. I've seen a few matches from the 80's from DVD's.
Ryan: I think I know enough to have a conversation with someone. Most of what I have learned is through Ric's book, and a couple DVDs
Matty: I'm aware of pretty much everything that happened in the '80s WWF and have spent a lot of time watching tapes and dvds from this period, I've managed to see every Wrestlemania at some point or another. While my WWF knowledge stands up against most fans' I don't know a whole lot about much else that happened during the 80s, I've become more interested in all wrestling and not just WWF/E as I've gotten older and hopefully I'll know a fair bit about everything else that happened.
Taylor: WWE produced DVDS are a good source for me. I may rag on them lots, but man, someone is clearly running there ass off producing awesome DVDS. I have a couple of tapes, but hope to get more stuff when I get a job and some suitable income. I also happen to read lots, and every wrestling book I have, I have read more than twice. Yes...I have no life.
9. What do girls your age think about guys who watch wrestling? Major nerd alert, or cooler than Hell?
Jason: In my experience most girls my age have predetermined that all wrestling fans are immature. We can thank angles like Katie Vick for that, I suppose. One of my more recent ex's, however, was a wrestling fan. It's rare though.
Sylvain: Girls? What are those? Ahh yes, the species with the lack of appreciation for fine things like wrestling. For all I know, the majority of fans are dudes, and I never got female action due to my love of wrestling.
Jeff: I remember in school it being half cool, now it seems to be less "major nerd" more "one of those things guys do together after a few beers". Actually heard a friend's girlfriend say "well at least they're not watching porn!"
Ash: I don't really know, because I tell everyone that I watch wrestling, yet chicks don't seem to have a problem with it. This could also be the fact the girls I know are nice enough to talk behind my back about my tastes.
John: MAJOR Nerd alert.
Ryan: I figure most of them just aren't into it. But I'll say that it's cooler than Hell when you meet a girl who IS into it.
Matty: Well pretty much every girl my age thinks I'm clinging on to my childhood watching wrestling and gives it the whole "but it's fake" remark whenever I mention it. On the whole I don't talk about it with girls as they have no interest and think I'm a fool for watching it. I got many strange looks in class last week when I showed off the new Ultimate Warrior Legends figure I had bought in my lunch break, I guess some people just don't know cool.
Taylor: I polled a few of my friends.
10. Of the women you know who do (or did) watch wrestling, who are/were their favorite wrestlers?
Jason: As I said earlier, my Great Aunt's favorite was Race. On the few occasions my mom watched wrestling with me, she seemed to like The Rock. Michelle, my ex's favorite was Randy Orton.
Sylvain: Any women I know who check out wrestling only like the "hot" guys like HBK, John Cena, or Big Poppa Pump.
Jeff: Without exception the Rock. Oh I tell a lie, I had an ex girlfriend in school who had a thing for Edge, but she was goth and weird. Actually, she did have red hair...
Ash: The Rock and The Hardyz. That's pretty much it.
John: My Mom likes Shawn Michaels because she thinks he's hot. (Scary right!)
Ryan: The Rock
Matty: I don't actually know any girls who have ever liked wrestling, never mind watch it now. The only ones who have any remote memories are those with big brothers that made them watch it.
Taylor: My friend Jacky says Hulk Hogan. She just watched it once though.
11. WWE desperately tries to appeal to guys your age via the WWE Divas. In my day, that was cool because we didn't have porn readily available on the internet like today. What is your guys' opinion on T&A (that's Tits and Ass) in wrestling?
A. I LOVE IT! Keep it coming! B. So lame. I love women, but if I want to see them naked, I'll rent porn or go on the internet. C. I'm gay, I hate it. D. It's okay in moderation. E. Other (please specify)
Jason: D.
Sylvain: E. It's a great eye pleaser, not necessary but a fine addition. It's when they wrestle poorly that I get pissed and turned off.
Jeff: E - I always assumed it was designed to appeal to middle aged dirty old men who mould themselves on the King? Incidentally, I've always wondered how long it took WWE creative to come up with the idea for T&A tag team with Trish as manager. Hmm, who we got beginning with T? Still think it would have been better with Triple H and Al Snow!
Ash: B, cuz I watch wrestling to see half-naked men, not women. Jeez.
John: D.
Ryan: D. It's okay in moderation.
Matty: D. I don't mind it on the odd occasion for five minutes or so, after all some of the divas are beyond hot. However I really have never gotten into women's wrestling, I know they try and all but the matches are so slow and dull, I get enough of that from Snitsky and Tomko.
Taylor: I'm going to say B, but eye candy CAN WORK. Just not if its taking 20 minutes in which could be used for Chris Benoit/Rey Mysterio submission match. From tapes, I always liked ECW's style of eye candy. They didn't have 'Stacy Keeblur will u mary mee?' type things, but just manipulative bitches who would get in catfights ripping clothes up before being piledriven by Tommy Dreamer. Then we would have Mysterio/Benoit
12. Do you sometimes see old-looking legends like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair and wonder why in the world older fans cheer like crazy for them?
Jason: No, not at all. They get cheered because they deserve it, some more than others. Even if they aren't participating in a match, they should be applauded in thanks for the memories.
Sylvain: I can figure out the square root of 1,254, the property of matter, the molecular structure of an atom...But I just can't figure this question out. Seriously.
Jeff: Hell no. Well maybe Hogan, but I love seeing Flair, it makes me realize I'm not the only sad old (relatively!) git watching!
Ash: No, because older fans grew up with them, so I respect that. In 30 years or so if I go to a show and The Rock makes an appearance, I'm going to cheer at the top of lungs, 'cause he was my childhood hero.
John: No. They were the top guys back then.
Ryan: I don't wonder at all. 20 years from now, if the Rock came back, I'd cheer like crazy.
Matty: Haha, no, I think you'd have to be very young or maybe just stupid not to know who the likes of Hogan and Flair are. Especially since Hogan was a champion in 2002 and just beat Shawn Michaels, I think fans both young and old are wondering how the hell that happened.
Taylor: I used to think Hulk Hogan was god. Same goes for Flair. I always thought that if so many people called them legends, they had to do something right. Now when I think of god, I only think of a nice guy. And Ric Flair.
13. What is the buzz, if any, on campus about TNA?
Jason: A lot of wrestling fans I know are still ignoring it. If they witnessed the Canadian Destroyer only one time, I think they would find it awfully hard to ignore for much longer.
Sylvain: Replace campus with internet and the buzz I find seems to be divided between positive and negative.
Jeff: On the basis most of us who watch at uni are retro-WWE fans. Most people if they've heard of it at all, comment something along the lines of, is Jeff Jarrett still alive? I'm dead excited by it, but near impossibility of getting anything other than WWE DVDs in UK? Australia limits things a tad.
Ash: Almost non-existent. I far as I know, in my school of 1500 kids, only me and one other guy know of TNA.
John: None.
Ryan: It's a fresh breath of air. I'm still pretty pissed about the way WWE treated Christian. I'm glad that he left, only because I see him going to TNA and having some awesome feuds with Styles, Daniels, Hardy, etc. He could be their champion and carry that promotion.
Matty: As none of my friends are wrestling
fans all I read and discuss regarding TNA is on the internet, I do get
to see it myself now as they've launched The Wrestling Channel here in
the UK which shows it. On the whole I can take or leave it aside from
the X-Division which is amazing to see, especially with WWE limiting the
move-sets of its wrestlers.
Taylor: Ha, famous words. I actually got in to TNA... well, I can't figure it out. But I DID NOT see a single TNA match until they debuted on spike TV.

Number of wrestling-related T-shirts you saw on campus this past year:
Jason: About 30 or 40
Sylvain: 0.

We watched Raw (one of few times I got to see it before they started putting Heat on domestic TV) and were very over excited at being up that late on out own. Flicking channels discovered the late night hotel porn channel. Sad to say, we missed the last hour of Raw.
Ash: 12
John: 10
Ryan: 13

Ryan: I don't think I know any with them, however, I did hear that 4 girls that I graduated with had STD's
Matty: 0, though they might have and just be keeping it quiet.
Taylor: None that I know of.
Number of friends you have that smoke cigarettes:
Jason: Just about all of them.
Sylvain: 6
Jeff: umm 20ish
Ash: few
John: 2
Ryan: 10
Matty: About 10.
Taylor: Well, I will probably be showing this to my teachers, so I really shouldn't say anything.
Number of friends you have who smoke weed:
Jason: Just about all of them.
Sylvain: 5
Jeff: umm 30ish
Ash: a bunch
John: 2
Ryan: 3
Matty: 5 or 6.
Taylor: Ditto.
Number of friends you have who drink alcohol on a regular basis:
Jason: That depends on your definition of "regular basis". Most of my friends get wasted once every week or two.
Sylvain: 6
Jeff: pretty much all of us
Ash: quite a number
John: 0
Ryan: 2
Matty: All of them.
Taylor: Ditto.
Number of guys on campus with mullet haircuts:
Jason: 4. There were more, but they cut them off when their sex life died harder than Christian's push.
Sylvain: 0. That is until I reveal my new do.
Jeff: a couple and boy do we love them!
Ash: Mull-what?
John: 0
Ryan: 0
Matty: Sadly about 30, it's an unfortunate trend.
Taylor: Not much. More people are in to the 'shaggy' haircut
Number of guys on campus you know or have heard about who use steroids:
Jason: About 5.
Sylvain: 0.
Jeff: none, although a few we've always suspected...
Ash: 2
John: 1
Ryan: 1
Matty: One friend of mine.
Taylor: Who the hell uses non-medical steroids in middle school?
Your most recent GPA (again, optional):
Jason: 3.1.
Sylvain: I dunno.
Jeff: Not knowing what a GPA is (guessing American test thingy?) I looked on the internet and came up with Gnu Private Assistant. So never, have I in anyway been assisted by a large herbivore. Also should the police call, the incident with the hamster and the elastic band is pure hearsay.
Ash: Like, A?
Ryan: Great Pussy Action? What the hell kind of question is that?! Err... I mean..... I never cared about GPA.... usually 3.0 I think.
Matty: Sorry, I'm not familiar with the term.
Taylor: About....3.5
15. In this day and age, how easy is it to be under 21 and buy alcohol, get access to porn, and score some drugs?
Jason: Around here, pretty easy. But remember kids, underage drinking is BAD. If you do it, there's always a chance you will get raped by a clown.
Sylvain: Amazingly easy, I guess. Thank God I live in a place where the legal age is 18/19.
Jeff: very when you're 19 and don't live in America.
Ash: On a scale of 1-through-very, I'd say quite reasonable.
John: I could get porn using a SCHOOL computer, Alcohol would probably be at any given party, drugs might be pretty hard though.
Ryan: Easy
Matty: Well you only have to be 18 to do pretty much anything here in the UK, so for me it's not a problem. Though I've been going out to clubs and buying alcohol since I was just turned 16, it's really very easy, especially having long hair which causes bouncers to assume you're a university student. Getting porn and drugs is even easier than alcohol, it's everywhere.
Taylor: You would be surprised.
16. Have you ever written an essay or done a school project on wrestling? If so, how did it go?
Jason: No, I haven't. I may soon, though.
Sylvain: I haven't had the chance. But my brother once got a high mark on his book report of "Have a Nice Day".
Jeff: nope, although I fancy the idea of trying now...
Ash: I wrote a speech on wrestling in grade 7. My classmates liked it, even though wrestling wasn't cool at the time, but my teacher yawned and left the class in the middle of it. She gave me a B.
John: No.
Ryan: Yeah I made a video tribute to Shawn Michaels. This was before he came back to the nWo, so I thought I had his last match pegged. I got an A+, and I found out my teacher was a Michaels fan
Matty: I've done countless presentations and essays on wrestling whenever I've been able to get away with it, on the whole it has always gone well since I'm a relatively good writer and have been able to make it relevant to what I was studying at the time.
Taylor: Actually, yes I did. It was on Mick Foley and it was supposed to be about someone who inspired your life. My friend did Owen Hart (Despite knowing NOTHING about him. He kept coming to me for answers and statements. He has since got out of wrestling). I once did a website on pro wrestling too. Both of them did fairly well. On a scale of 1-5, Ill say the both got 3.
17. Which celebrity women do most guys your age wanna seriously bang? How about Raw Divas? Which ones turn you on and which ones turn you off?
Jason: Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley, Halle Berry, and Natalie Portman are all top-notch bang material. As far as the divas go, I like Melina, Christy, Trish and Maria. Oh, and Stacy Keibler can do NO WRONG. Not with legs like that. I don't care too much for the latest Diva Search winner, and I think almost all of the divas could use some more wrestling skills. (Excluding Trish, Victoria, Mickey James, and a few others.)
Sylvain: I think Angelina Jolie is the front runner. When it comes to the Divas, they all turn me on, especially Alexis Laree.
Jeff: Camron Diaz, Maria Sharapova, Paris Hilton (if you're feeling dirty) ah what the hell, we're not fussy, if they're slow runners they cant get away. As far as divas go, Trish Stratus any day of the week, Lilian Garcia if she slipped me $5 and asked nicely.
Ash: My age, that chick from The Island, and Elisha Cuthbert. Raw Divas? I like Trish, Ashley, and Candice. None of them really turn me off, though. Except sometimes Maria.
John: Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, etc. As for RAW divas all of them are pretty hot.
Ryan: Carman Electra. I'd like to spend a day with Stacy Kiebler.
Matty: I'd say probably Angelina Jolie is the
celeb I'd most like to bang, maybe Jennifer Aniston five years ago.
Taylor: Not so much "bang", but go on a date with, Kristen Kreuk. So damn innocent. And I would be lying if I didn't say Katherine Keener. Yes, I know, I want to date someone 4 times my age. As for raw divas, I wouldn't mind just talking with Alexis Laree (Read: James, Vickie) and Trish Stratus either.
18. Another thing you teenagers missed out on is good rock music. Your generation has no Dee Snider telling you to not take it anymore, no David Lee Roth telling you to get hot for your teacher, no Vince Neil telling you to shout at the devil, no Alice Cooper telling you to raise your fist and yell, no Ozzy Osbourne telling you to Bark at the Moon, and no Blackie Lawless telling you f*ck like a beast. You poor, poor souls. Who are considered the hottest bands on campus? And do you sometimes feel jealous that you guys missed out on a time when rock music was all about partying and p*ssy?
Jason: Hey, I may have missed those things at their peak popularity, but I'm still into old school metal and hair bands. Most of the hot bands on campus are rap. But seeing as I don't like rap much, I'll tell ya my favorites. Trivium, Shadows Fall, Avenged Sevenfold, In Flames and Soilwork all kick so much royal ass. I like bands similar to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, though the more modern metal bands are a little more hard.
Sylvain: The most popular rock bands are the bands with "The" in their name. And am I jealous I missed out? Hell no. What is with all major wrestling personas obsession with "classic rock".
Jeff: Who needs rock music? Life's about partying and p*ssy! (and that will be true the same day CM Punk lifts the WWE title)
Ash: Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Our Lady of Peace, and a bunch of indy bands. I hate them all. Emos just utterly suck.
John: Bands like Opeth, Slayer, 50 Cent, are pretty popular around campus. Sometimes like when I see Ashlee Simpson on top of the charts, jealousy does strike.
Ryan: I like to listen to Linkin Park, but as for other people, there's just a huge variety as to who likes what.
Matty: I'm fortunate enough to have had a family with cool music taste and I pretty much don't like any currentbands with exception of The Libertines, who split last year anyway. My favorite bands include: The Clash, Sex Pistols, Bowie, Rolling Stones, Oasis, Bad Religion, The Doors, The Who, Hendrix, Dylan and The Jam. I am very jealous that I am alive in a time of such shitty music and would kill to have seen my favorite bands in their primes.
Taylor: My school is more in to 'gangsta rap'. Personally I hate it, but as the prof will tell you, If you don't like it, don't listen to it. For my friends and I, I would say...Well, just me, I would have to say Arcade Fire. And yes, I do miss those days. Even IF it was all about hairbands. Back then you could tell whoever the guitarist or frontman was. And it was raw.
19. When Ronald Reagan passed away, how many of you were thinking, “Ronald who??”
Jason: I knew who he was, of course. I kinda had a grudge against him for shutting down the metal factory my grandpa worked at in California (in Fontana. They built the speedway where it used to be).
Sylvain: I knew him from parodies on The Simpsons and a rerun of that movie with the monkey. Your president played second fiddle to a chimp.
Jeff: Wasn't he in the RnR express?
Ash: 13.
John: Just 1 friend of mine. We made fun of him all week because of it, he also thought Martin Luther King jr. was a president.
Ryan: I knew who he was, but that's cause I recited all of the presidents for bonus points.
Matty: I knew who he is, but it meant little to me, being a Brit.
Taylor: I was pretty knowledgeable of Mr. Reagan. He invented the light bulb, right?
20. Does anyone on campus care about politics? If so, are most teenagers liberal or conservative? And your teachers? Do they lean more toward the left or to the right?
Jason: Most people I know are political enough to bitch about the war and gas prices, that's it. If that's any indication, the future's in some deep shit.
Sylvain: Those who act like they give a damn seem to be more liberal. And when teachers talk about politics they always lean more towards the left.
Jeff: Most of my mates are quite politically active, with a majority having a left wing tendency. Teachers tend to me far more conservative which can lead to some fun old debates in classes, especially when we're supposed to be debating environmental management plans.
Ash: The problem with kids these days is that they think their opinions matter. They want to vote after spending half a semester in a bird 'Civics' course. They know nothing of how government works, and are all conservative saying 'Taxes suck! No more tax!' thinking government has money magically appear in its pocket. Or, they think they can save the rainforest by going to an anti-fur rally. Yeah. I'm in the middle, though, because I know where my place |
