Learn Self Defense

It's a different world from when we were kids.  Back then, you could pick on a nerd and beat him senseless with wild haymakers you could see a mile away.  These days, pick on a nerd who looks like Joe Lauzon, and he might really be Joe Lauzon and tear the head off from your shoulders, lock you in a kimura, and otherwise tie you up like a pretzel.

You never know who knows what, so you better prepare yourself to defend against anyone.  Chances are, some day someone is going to call you out, hit on your girlfriend, or tell you your mama dresses you funny.  When that happens, it's time to dance.

You could always go to your local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym and learn there, but who wants to throw down with those gorillas?  Who has the time?  Or the money?

Instead, learn self defense from the comfort of your own home.  There are lots of DVDs on the market that help you learn the basics.  Granted, if you're looking to fight for a living professionally, you need to get to a gym and forget about any DVDs.  But if you're like most people and just want to learn enough to defend yourself against the average bully or loudmouth at the bar, this stuff will teach you the basics.  Just remember to use it only in self defense.  No one likes a bully.  Besides, you never know, that little guy you're bullying might be Urijah Faber, and then you're really up a creek.

To get you started, here are some helpful instructional DVD resources:
