Bruiser Brody... EXPOSED

High School Photos Expose Brody as a Former Preppie

November 28, 2005

Man, we really are your worst nightmare.  Every single one of us hides from our high school yearbook pictures, and damnit, our job is to expose them all.

Earlier this year, we exposed the mighty Hercules Hernandez by posting his high school pictures too.  Our newest exposé is the legendary Bruiser Brody, who is one of our favorite wrestlers of all-time.  Thanks to Armpit reader Nate Kruk of Warren, Michigan, we're going to delve deep into Brody's past and see how he really looked in high school.

The facts on Bruiser Brody:

-His real name is Frank Goodish

-He attended high school from 1961 through 1964.

-Brody played football at West Texas State, the same college that Tully Blanchard, Dusty Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Tito Santana, and a few other wrestling notables attended.

-He married Barbara Goodish, and has one son.

-Brody is right up there with Terry Funk and Mick Foley as the greatest brawler of all-time.  While he never made it big in WWE (rumor has it he had a backstage fight with Gorilla Monsoon), he is legendary in Japan, St. Louis, Texas, Minnesota, and other various territories.

-Brody was tragically murdered by Jose Gonzales (Invader #1) in Puerto Rico in 1988, allegedly over a finish to a match.  Gonzales walked away a free man, thanks in part to the corrupt prosecution failing to subpoena witnesses like Tony Atlas.  Even if witnesses had come forward, their lives would've always been in jeopardy, as would their careers in Puerto Rico.

On to the pics.

First, let's take a look at Brody in his prime...

Brody was a beast, and we loved him for that.  In fact, we ranked him #1 in our Top 10 "Manliest" Wrestlers list.

That's quite a far cry from this high school picture, wouldn't you say??

Brody, posing for a picture with his high school basketball team.  Quite a handsome guy, and quite different from the caveman look he later portrayed as a wrestler.

Before showing the next high school pic, let's revisit some older classic Brody shots...

Brody with Stan Hansen; the two comprised one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history.  These guys are legendary in Japanese circles for their classic battles with the Funks.

Brody gets bloodied up by Abdullah the Butcher.  Abby, who is in his late 60s, still wrestles today.

That bloodied up monster once looked like this...

Brody, as Frank Goodish, watches the game from the sidelines.  To think, this man would go on to no-sell for Lex Luger in one of the most infamous matches in Florida fancam history.

More vintage Brody...

Is it any wonder we ranked this guy as the manliest ever?  Take a look at him.  The Queer Eye for the Straight Guy folks would be running for the hills if they saw this man.  Not a sissy-bone in his body.

But... he was once human.  This picture proves it...

No, it's not Ward Cleaver.  It's the crazy Bruiser Brody who sent Japanese women and senior citizens scurrying for their seats, covered in blood.

Brody will always rule the world.  As more photos come, we'll post them.  Thanks again to Nate Kruk for these kick-ass pics.
