Scrawny to Brawny: The Complete Guide to Building Muscle the Natural Way:
This is the one book that we can truly say changed our bodies the most.  If you're skinny, this book is a must-read.  It will transform the way you think about lifting weights, eating, and the exercises you choose.  We gained 40 pounds on this (not all of it muscle), then shed off the fat and were left with a much better build than we ever thought possible.  We've read this book at least 5 times cover to cover, and there's no other routine we'd rather use.

 

Men's Health: The Book of Muscle--The World's Most Authoritative Guide to Building Your Body -
Always trust books from Men's Health magazine, and author Lou Schuler is a true authority on all things muscle.  If your problem isn't that your skinny (which means most of you), then this is the book you'll want.

 

Men's Health Home Workout Bible:
Another Schuler book, which means you need to read it.  Schuler is a strong advocate of not needing fancy workout equipment to get the job done, and you'll like his no-gimmick approach.

 

The Abs Diet: The Six-Week Plan to Flatten Your Stomach and Keep You Lean for Life:
We hate fad diets, and the Abs Diet is the antithesis of the fad diet.  It teaches common sense, and in a way where you can understand it.  We don't endorse diets, but this isn't a diet: it's a new way of eating for life.  This is an essential book.
